Types of Junk Car Buyers

“I want to junk my car now!” you tell yourself. But who are the junk car buyers out there? You need to know the people who may be interested in buying your car—‘cause not all of them have exactly the best intentions.

The first type is the small-time independent buyer who’s basically just a middleman. He wants to buy your car for as low a price as possible and then he goes to the junkyard to sell it for a much larger price. The next type of buyer is the small towing company. Like the first type of buyer, all it wants to do is get a quick buck by buying your car cheaply and then selling it to a junkyard or scrapyard for a huge sum. This kind of towing company only does this service as a sideline to its regular towing business.

Needless to say, these first two types of junk car buyers aren’t what you’re looking for. It’s very likely that they won’t be honest with you regarding the real price of your scrap car. But more importantly, these guys won’t have the capability to process the legal documents necessary to make the sale. Do business with these guys and you’ll have to do all the paperwork yourself, and you’ll just be in a lot of trouble if you don’t do it right.

Remember that laws regarding the sale of cars differ from state to state. In fact, depending on your vehicle’s condition it may not even be possible to scrap your car. Consider having someone check out your vehicle and see if it could be labeled as a salvage car and sold to a different kind of buyer.

The next type of buyer is the junkyard or scrapyard. Going directly to these guys could be a good choice if you own a towing vehicle yourself and you can tow your scrap car to their site. If you don’t have a towing vehicle, then they’ll probably charge you for their towing services or they may not even be capable of towing your car. Like the previous types of buyers, you also can’t rely on many junkyards and scrapyards to process the paperwork.

Out of all these types of buyers, the only scrap car buyer you should go for is the large junkyard company. This type of buyer has streamlined business processes and protocols in place to haul a huge number of scrap cars to their site. A nationwide junkyard/scrapyard company will pay you great money for your vehicle and won’t charge you anything. They’ll tow it out of your garage themselves and even correctly do the paperwork for you. Choose this type of junk car buyer and you’ll have nothing to worry about but plenty of reasons to smile.
