The Basics of the Junk Car Sale

That pickup truck has been collecting dust, rust and grime in your garage for a long time. You can’t start it, you can’t fix it, you can’t do anything with it. If that’s your problem, then you should just let the vehicle go by selling it to a junkyard. If you didn’t know, you can actually reap some huge cash for junk cars.

First thing you should do is unload all the stuff from your old vehicle that you want to keep. Look inside the trunk, the glove compartment, even under seats for personal items that have been sitting there for a long time. Once all these things are out, get your yellow pages or log on to the Internet to find contact details of junkyards or scrap yards in your area.

The simplest way to do this is to go to Google and type in your location, say, “Dallas Texas junkyard,” and hit the enter key. Take your pick among the junkyards listed and call them. They’ll give you instructions on how you can sell your vehicle to them, how the vehicle can be transported to their site, and how much cash you can expect to receive. Cash for junk cars usually depend on the weight of the vehicles.

For vehicles with models 1995 or newer, junkyards would usually require the owner to supply them with the vehicle’s title. So you have to find your old ride’s title and get it ready for the sale. However, junkyards also advice owners not to put anything on their titles before they come in for the sale.

So to be safe, just ready your title but don’t fill it out ‘til you’re talking directly to the guys from your prospective junkyard. Don’t worry if you can’t drive your old vehicle to the junkyard ‘cause they surely have a towing service/junk car removal service that can transport the vehicle for you. And that’s it! You get rid of your old vehicle and get some money from it. Cash for junk cars is a real piece of cake.

Some Advice for Selling Your Junk Car

What can you do to make money off your junk car? Well, if you’re a DIYer and you have enough background on automotive repair to know which parts are usable and which parts are not, you can strip away the components that are still in good shape and sell them to a junkyard or an auto restorer. You can also hire a mechanic and have him diagnose which parts you can keep and which ones you can’t.

Of course, you can also sell the entire junk car to the junkyard, which will then also chop up the car and sell its usable parts to buyers who need them. Selling the vehicle to a metal recycler will also get you money. The metal recycler will weigh the metal in the car and pay you the corresponding amount. The only thing you need to remember is that you’re sure to make money off that old vehicle.

So instead of letting it lie around your backyard, collecting dust and rust, search the Web now for the junkyard or metal recycling plant nearest you. You can also use the good, old yellow pages for reference.
While there are junkyards that could tow your vehicle for free, there are some out there that would charge you for their towing services, especially if you live very far away from them. This is where your own tow truck or trailer comes in handy. By towing the junk car to the junkyard yourself, you get to keep all of the profit from the sale.

Just remember to bring the title with you when you go to the junkyard. Most junkyards won’t accept vehicles unless their owners can produce original titles. The reason for this is that they don’t want to get caught up in theft rings that steal and sell junk cars.
