Pimp a salvage car

Some people love to grab the spotlight by dressing up. Some take it even further by getting multiple tattoos while some devote more time fixing and rebuilding cars than taking care and improving their bodies.

These types of persons love pimping their cars. If you are new into this kind of a hobby, then a great way to start is to rebuild salvage cars. This will save you tons of money and may even yield profits on your end if you decide to resell your newly refurbished car.

The first step is always the most difficult part especially if you’re starting out with a salvage car. You must make sure that the vehicle that you will purchase has proper documentation. If you are more patient than the ordinary fellow, then you may want to take a look at multiple salvage cars to see if you can buy certain parts and items that you can use for your rebuilding project.

It’s more like a mix and match process and with the right advice from the more seasoned car enthusiast, you can put together all those parts to create one super car that you are proud of.

Start by logging into the Internet. There are many sites to choose from. Most of them showcase the latest photographs of certain models and makes but before buying a salvage car, it is always wise to inspect it and be physically present by the time you purchase it.

Tag along a certified mechanic or a friend who is knowledgeable in this field especially if you are visiting salvage auctions.

They can give the proper advice on what salvage car can still be rebuilt and what parts to use in your hobby. In any case, you are sure to save loads of cash by starting your newfound hobby using a salvage car.

At the end of the day, while you want to create something beautiful, you must make sure that the newly-pimped car is safe to drive. A car that is improperly rebuilt can cause accidents not just to you and your family but also to the one who will buy your car, if you are a reseller.

Types of Junk Car Buyers

“I want to junk my car now!” you tell yourself. But who are the junk car buyers out there? You need to know the people who may be interested in buying your car—‘cause not all of them have exactly the best intentions.

The first type is the small-time independent buyer who’s basically just a middleman. He wants to buy your car for as low a price as possible and then he goes to the junkyard to sell it for a much larger price. The next type of buyer is the small towing company. Like the first type of buyer, all it wants to do is get a quick buck by buying your car cheaply and then selling it to a junkyard or scrapyard for a huge sum. This kind of towing company only does this service as a sideline to its regular towing business.

Needless to say, these first two types of junk car buyers aren’t what you’re looking for. It’s very likely that they won’t be honest with you regarding the real price of your scrap car. But more importantly, these guys won’t have the capability to process the legal documents necessary to make the sale. Do business with these guys and you’ll have to do all the paperwork yourself, and you’ll just be in a lot of trouble if you don’t do it right.

Remember that laws regarding the sale of cars differ from state to state. In fact, depending on your vehicle’s condition it may not even be possible to scrap your car. Consider having someone check out your vehicle and see if it could be labeled as a salvage car and sold to a different kind of buyer.

The next type of buyer is the junkyard or scrapyard. Going directly to these guys could be a good choice if you own a towing vehicle yourself and you can tow your scrap car to their site. If you don’t have a towing vehicle, then they’ll probably charge you for their towing services or they may not even be capable of towing your car. Like the previous types of buyers, you also can’t rely on many junkyards and scrapyards to process the paperwork.

Out of all these types of buyers, the only scrap car buyer you should go for is the large junkyard company. This type of buyer has streamlined business processes and protocols in place to haul a huge number of scrap cars to their site. A nationwide junkyard/scrapyard company will pay you great money for your vehicle and won’t charge you anything. They’ll tow it out of your garage themselves and even correctly do the paperwork for you. Choose this type of junk car buyer and you’ll have nothing to worry about but plenty of reasons to smile.

Changing the battery of your junk car

Your family is getting bigger and there is a huge demand for you to purchase a new car. Well, instead of buying a brand new car, why not simply fix your junk car and get the last few miles from your old friend from the road.

The first thing you should check is the battery. Usually batteries are changed when they no longer charge. Refer to your car owner’s manual to get the right amperage battery to use. Be careful in changing batteries since there are different kinds when maintaining your battery.

You can have a maintenance free battery at your hands. If this is the case, then you only need to check if the battery no longer works. Simply inspect a small window at the top and look for an indicator that says if it needs charging or replacement.

Other kinds of batteries may need special attention and maintenance. Check for the water and acid levels. You may need a hydrometer to determine if your battery’s acid level is enough. Check the water level as well. Should you need more water, simply use distilled water only since any other types such as water from the faucet may have negative effects on your battery.

If you always have to check your battery for both the water and acid levels then it may be a good time to just buy a new one. Good quality batteries usually last for five more years while others may last within a shorter period of time.

Be careful though in replacing your car battery. You can hurt yourself if you touch the battery contacts or frame. To avoid any injury through electrocution, always use just a single hand when removing cables and configuring the bolts that are connected to the cable.

Follow these tips and you’ll probably save more money. As long as you are well-equipped, you can fix your junk car yourself and still make the most out of it.
